Fall is Creeping up on us!

The end of summer is right around the corner. Fall is never long enough, and winter approaches fast, like it never left.

The kids have gone back to school.
The days at your cottage and boat are nearly over.
Thanksgiving and Halloween decor is in stores already!
The days are getting shorter and the nights are getting colder.

The perfect time to start your renovations is always the fall, since summer fun is over, with the hopes that all the work will be complete for Christmas/Winter Holidays. Just in time to have over company.

That's the plan, but not always the way it works out. The renovations start later than expected, since fall was so nice you soaked up every last bit of sun, and now the scramble is on, to get everything completed.

One thing that is always forgotten is.... The Fireplace!!

The fireplace is what makes the home feel cozy for Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, Valentine’s Day, the list goes on and on.

But everyone forgets to fire it up, after a beautiful summer the assumption is, of course the fireplace will work after being off for several months.

When was the last time you had your fireplace cleaned, serviced, or simply just turned on?

FACT: We receive several calls in the fall, of clients in a panic because their fireplace won't start. If the pilot was turned off during the spring/summer months, insects make a home in the hose, and create an obstruction for the gas, and just like that, you have a fireplace that will not fire up!

TIP: It is better to leave your pilot on during the summer, it doesn't cost a fortune on gas, and it prevents fall startup problems.

FACT: Keeping your pilot on thru the summer will only cost you 17 cents a week! Not only will it prevent expensive service calls, but also prevents rust and condensation from getting into the box, and keeps the glass cleaner.

TIP: During the Fall it is a great time to take a look at the wall or roof terminal to make sure it is free of debris. Often during the summer months’, the vents can be blocked by bird nests, dirt, litter, etc., blocking the CO2 from escaping. This is potentially dangerous and must be addressed immediately upon discovery.

Updating your fireplace can change the look of the whole room! Now is the time to start thinking about a new fireplace if you want it installed before the New Year!
