We Are Canadian!

At Hearthland Fireplaces one thing that has always remained of high importance to the owners is that we remain a Canadian company.

What does that mean?

We only work with companies that are Canadian. We feel at Hearthland that it is important to keep our business within our country, and we are confident that the Canadian standards will be recognized in the products that our clients purchase.

By Hearthland remaining Canadian it keeps more opportunity for work for our fellow Canadians and it keeps the money in our economy.

We proudly carry four reputable fireplace lines:

Napoleon - Barrie, ON
Savannah - Burnaby, BC
Toso - QC
Dimplex - Cambridge, ON

What does this mean to you, as our client?

We are giving the savings back to our customers with every project. There are no duty fees and cross-border shipping rates tacked on to your renovation projects when working with Hearthland.

When the time comes that you need replacement parts they are much more readily available. Fireplaces average about 20 years in someone's home, so it is inevitable that within the 20 years you will require parts at some point!

Kitchen Trends 2019

The kitchen can be one of the most difficult spaces in the home to bring character to. While we need it to be functional, it is always great for the kitchen to be aesthetically pleasing as well. It is much easier to come home and cook a feast in a kitchen that is visually appealing, than a kitchen that does not inspire your creativity. After all, cooking embarks on your creativity, day after day. “What’s for dinner?”

In Hearthland our team of professional designers has a great feel for what is trending in kitchen designs today. Of course, we all see the Pinterest Inspired kitchens, but these designers are here to give you a look that is Pinterest worthy. Imagine, your kitchen is the look others are chasing on Pinterest!

Our designers at Hearthland have narrowed down a couple Kitchen trends that are on the forefront, or new and upcoming for 2019. With these new trends, there is something for everyone.

Let’s talk about your cabinets

The 2019 trends for cabinetry that our designers have picked are the light and dark tones collaborated. We are seeing white and black cabinets mixed together, bringing in mixed materials or woods and metals. There are also a lot of dark blues being used as accent pieces in kitchens, to break up the all-white trend that has been going strong for the past several years.

Let’s talk about your appliance choice

Have you seen the new styles of appliances that have hit the market? We are no longer limited to high-end kitchen appliances with finishes such as stainless steel, or appliances integrated into the cabinetry. We now have appliances that are bold all on their own, bringing the opportunity for your much-needed appliances to be a piece in your home. We are seeing Matte finished Kitchen Appliances, and Ranges in black and white with gold knobs. Yes, gold, brass, copper is back, those were the metals our designers mentioned mixing in when considered your cabinetry designs.

Fall is Creeping up on us!

The end of summer is right around the corner. Fall is never long enough, and winter approaches fast, like it never left.

The kids have gone back to school.
The days at your cottage and boat are nearly over.
Thanksgiving and Halloween decor is in stores already!
The days are getting shorter and the nights are getting colder.

The perfect time to start your renovations is always the fall, since summer fun is over, with the hopes that all the work will be complete for Christmas/Winter Holidays. Just in time to have over company.

That's the plan, but not always the way it works out. The renovations start later than expected, since fall was so nice you soaked up every last bit of sun, and now the scramble is on, to get everything completed.

One thing that is always forgotten is.... The Fireplace!!

The fireplace is what makes the home feel cozy for Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, Valentine’s Day, the list goes on and on.

But everyone forgets to fire it up, after a beautiful summer the assumption is, of course the fireplace will work after being off for several months.

When was the last time you had your fireplace cleaned, serviced, or simply just turned on?

FACT: We receive several calls in the fall, of clients in a panic because their fireplace won't start. If the pilot was turned off during the spring/summer months, insects make a home in the hose, and create an obstruction for the gas, and just like that, you have a fireplace that will not fire up!

TIP: It is better to leave your pilot on during the summer, it doesn't cost a fortune on gas, and it prevents fall startup problems.

FACT: Keeping your pilot on thru the summer will only cost you 17 cents a week! Not only will it prevent expensive service calls, but also prevents rust and condensation from getting into the box, and keeps the glass cleaner.

TIP: During the Fall it is a great time to take a look at the wall or roof terminal to make sure it is free of debris. Often during the summer months’, the vents can be blocked by bird nests, dirt, litter, etc., blocking the CO2 from escaping. This is potentially dangerous and must be addressed immediately upon discovery.

Updating your fireplace can change the look of the whole room! Now is the time to start thinking about a new fireplace if you want it installed before the New Year!
